Southwest
Transplant Alliance and The Texas Rangers have teamed up to promote
organ donation for years! The first STA/Rangers Donor Awareness
Game was in 1995, to honor Mickey Mantle and his family. Since
then, we've added a softball game before the baseball game, where
a team of transplant recipients plays a team of media personalities.
The Rangers sure know how to promote donation, and everyone has a
blast! |

The
Texas Organ Donor Memorial Walkway is a partnership between Southwest
Transplant Alliance and Friends of Fair Park. The Walkway was
designed as a tribute to organ and tissue donors, and also as an opportunity
for both donor families and transplant recipients to remember and
honor those who make transplants possible - the donors. |

The
Dallas Mavericks and Southwest Transplant Alliance teamed up when
a player with one of the Canadian NBA teams offered to share a kidney
with his sister. We honored his willingness to share and have since
honored the NBA's Greg Ostertag for donating a kidney to his sister,
and have also had 50 transplant kids at half-court to celebrate the
50th anniversary of organ donation. The Mavs continue to be
very supportive of organ donation! |

Southwest
Airlines has so many transplant recipients on staff that they've promoted
organ donation for as long as we can remember. Southwest Transplant
Alliance has worked with Southwest Airlines on poster contests in
schools, meetings between donor families and recipients and more.
On more than one occasion, the airline hosted a holiday tree of hearts
at Love Field, allowing Southwest Transplant Alliance volunteers to
create and hang heart-shaped ornaments so that all Southwest Airlines
travelers could see and be moved by these special tributes. |
