The Texas Organ Donor Memorial Walkway - FAQ

Q: What can I put on the brick?
A: It's up to you as long as it fits in the spaces provided on the form, and as long
as it is in good taste.
Most people put the donor's name and perhaps a date,
with something like:
"In Honor Of" or "In Memory Of" or "Our Angel"
Some unusual examples:
"A big (heart shape) to share"
" 1 (heart) 2 lives"

Q: What if I don't have my donor's name?
A: We can potentially follow up with the donor's family to see if it's okay to share
at least the first name with you.

Q: Who can be honored in the walkway?
A: Most of the bricks honor organ and tissue donors. However, if your loved one
was involved in donation, it may be appropriate to honor him or her even if donation
wasn't possible.

Q: How long does it take once I've sent the form, for the brick to be in the walkway?
A: Brick forms are now sent in one batch on April 1 to the brick company for engraving.  For bricks to be in the Walkway by September/October, paperwork has to be in to STA by mid-March.  Forms that come in after March will go in the following year's batch, and will be laid in the walkway by September/October of the following year.

Q: Where does the money go?
A: To perpetuating the walkway and to planting trees nearby.

Q: Where exactly is the Walkway located?
A: At Fair Park in Dallas. Enter through the Martin Luther King, Jr.
entrance. Then walk straight ahead until you run into a concrete circle.
The Walkway is located on the left side of the circle.

Q: Is there a way to see the walkway if I can't come to Dallas?
A: Click on the movie in the walkway gallery to see the bricks right now!
