Approach and Authorization Coordinator (AAC)

OVERVIEW

The Approach and Authorization Coordinator (AAC) is responsible for obtaining appropriate authorization for tissue and cornea donation on every suitable referral and providing support to donor families during the authorization process. Included in these tasks, coordinators will be responsible for collecting donor medical/social history, and determining donor suitability in collaboration with STA management, recovery team leaders, and tissue processors.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Texas credential as an EMT-B or LVN, or completion of an accredited clinical healthcare program resulting in certification, registry, licensure, or equivalent work experience

  • Prior referral screening experience preferred

  • Must be detail-oriented and able to provide accuracy in documentation

  • Proficiency with MS Office and use of a telephone system

  • Must have the ability to work with all levels of personnel in several healthcare settings and able to work within the guidelines of various institutions

  • Must be able to simultaneously perform multiple complex processes and prioritize tasks to optimize workflow to ensure compliance with established policies and timelines

  • Excellent communication skills required. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and to represent the organization publicly

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required

  • Ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to handle a heavy workload

  • Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft or drive his/her personal auto to meet all job duties and responsibilities. Current Driver’s license required
