How does the virtual 5K option work?
Participants register as an individual or team at www.organ.org/hopestartshere5K and commit to running or walking 3.1 miles anytime between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, on Saturday, May 7, wherever they are! Some examples include running at a local park, in the neighborhood or on a treadmill.
You can record your time via your smartphone, watch, app, etc., and submit it on the event website. Wear your Hope Starts Here 5K T-shirt and/or personalized gear to help celebrate your team, and don’t forget to take pictures and share on social or email to events@organ.org.
How will we honor, remember, and celebrate the gift of life virtually?
Social media is a great way to honor and remember your loved one. Please take pictures and/or videos of your run or walk and tag us! Include the hashtag - #HopeStartsHere5K
Additionally, we have a virtual donor memorial wall, the Wall of Hope, on the STA website. If you have not submitted a tribute in the past or would like to update yours, please complete the form HERE.
Where can I track and post my walk or run time?
Submit your run or walk time on the Hope Starts Here 5K website. Click the “Upload My Time” button, then click the “Enter My Results” tab and follow the directions listed. Your submitted time will show up automatically, and results will be announced by Monday, May Participants have until 8:00 AM on Sunday, May 8 to upload times.
Can I pick up my packet in person even if I’m a virtual runner?
No, all virtual runners will have their packets mailed to them.
If I am running virtually, when will I receive my t-shirt?
All participants who register by March 30 will be mailed a race t-shirt that should arrive by May 7. T- shirts will be mailed to the address provided at registration. Those who register after the deadline will receive their shirt after the event. Only 1 t-shirt is allowed per participant.
Will there be a virtual event and ceremony?
Yes, stay informed through social media and check your emails! Updates will be provided on race winners, pictures will be shared, and other details distributed in celebration of our first Hope Starts Here 5K on the following Monday, May 9.
Where is Addison Circle Park?
Addison Circle Park is located in the Town of Addison, TX. The official address is: 4970 Addison Circle Dr, Addison, TX 75001.
Where do I park for the in-person race?
There are two accessible parking garages less than 1 mile from the Start and Finish line of the race with ample spots. Public street parking is also an option depending on availability – parking is at your own risk, and we encourage you to follow all rules and regulations as explained on signage.

What do I do after I run my 5K?
Stay for the fun! Visit the booths, take a family photo, grab a refreshment and a bite to eat, and enjoy yourself.
Will there be an opportunity to honor my loved one?
Absolutely. This event is dedicated to just that. Participants are encouraged to visit the Celebration of Life Tent. Here, families of donor heroes and gracious transplant recipients have the opportunity to place a flower in the floral Wall of Hope to symbolize life and give tribute to their loved one.
Can I wear my own t-shirt or gear that represents my 5K team?
This is encouraged! We want your team spirit to shine! Create your own shirt, wear a silly hat, or craft a sign or two. Feel free to get creative!
Will there be food and drinks at the event?
Hydration stations will be available throughout the 5K route. Additionally, light food options, and refreshments will be available in the Sponsor Village and/or streets surrounding the park. No alcoholic beverage will be passed out or sold at this 5k event.
Where do I get my race packet?
Packet pick-up for all in-person runners will take place Friday, May 6 from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM at Luke’s Locker located at 3046 Mockingbird Ln, Dallas, TX 75205.
