Scott Bennett
Chief Operating Officer
Scott Bennett has spent more than two decades helping expand access to lifesaving transplants and strengthening the systems that make the gift of organ and tissue donation possible. As Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Southwest Transplant Alliance, he oversees the organization’s core operations, ensuring every opportunity for healing organ and tissue donation is honored with precision, care, and urgency.
In his role, Scott oversees STA’s core functions from clinical and surgical services to laboratory operations, referrals, family support, logistics, and allocation—making certain every gift of donation has the greatest conceivable impact.
With more than 25 years of experience in academic medicine and nearly two decades leading transplant operations, he is widely respected for combining operational discipline with a deep commitment to the transplant community.
Scott brings a disciplined, evidence-based approach to complex healthcare operations. His work often centers on how technology, collaboration, and process improvement can expand the donor pool, improve outcomes, and make transplantation more accessible to patients across diverse communities.
Innovation also plays a central role in his approach. Scott encourages teams to look for opportunities to refine organizational practices, whether through improved technology, better data collection, or benchmarking performance against national standards.
Scott arrived at STA after more than two decades at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he most recently served as Associate Vice President of Solid Organ Transplant. There, he provided executive leadership for heart, lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas transplant programs alongside associated acute care services.
Beyond his operational leadership, Scott continues to invest and engage deeply in the broader transplant community. He serves as President of the Texas Transplantation Society and sits on the Board of Directors for the Taylor’s Gift Foundation, organizations dedicated to advancing transplant science, policy, and donor awareness.
Throughout his career, Scott has remained focused on healing and helping more patients receive the lifesaving transplants they’re waiting for. At Southwest Transplant Alliance, he is helping expand that impact by strengthening partnerships, improving performance and advancing organ and tissue donation across the region.
